About Me

My first exp with programming was basic on a Apple IIe what fun that was, did some Turbo Pascal and Turbo C in high school then went on to join the Navy. After spending 4 years as an Electronics Tech ( ET ) in the Navy I decided I wanted to work with computers instead.

Having built every computer I had owned up to that point I ended up working at computer store doing tech and sales for a while, then at a regional ISP doing tech support where I learned to hate winsock with a passion. This was around 1995 and was the when I first got started in linux. Got back into programming doing scripts for a 16 line WorldGroup BBS I ran for a few years, Automating Major Mud was pretty popular on the BBS/Gaming arena back then. From there I went on to work for Mindspring just before they got bought out by EarthLink doing more ISP support. From there I moved to Go2Net working for there Authorize.net department handling support calls.

At that point I was pretty familiar with linux running and maintaining my own website and a few other websites over DSL doing some minor programming in perl. Don't remember who it was at the time but I was trying to get something done in perl and they suggested php, From that day in 1999 I never looked back.

Did some consulting work here and there a dating site, a shopping site that never launched ( the guy had no idea what a launch schedule was at all ) and currently BrokerBin.com.

Most recent major PHP related even in my life would be a article on Flash and PHP Sockets published in the August 2004 issue of PHP|Arch.
