My ZendCon Wrapup

First off I would like to say hats off to Zend for having such a great conference, it was wonderfull.

Not going to spend any time detailing what talks I went to and what I thought about them, I am sure the php blog world will be full of those instead I will comment on a couple other things

The new Zend Studio Neon if you haven't downloaded it yet do so now! Its eclipse based so I right there a lot of people are cheering but overall it looks like a vastly superior product to the original Studio and coupled with the intergration and plugins that already exist for eclipse even this old school command line user is going to be giving it a serious thought.

For you Zend Framework people out there I was at 2 of the 3 get together discussing the future of ZF and there are a couple directions that are being looked into that will improve overall performance of the ZF and also make it even easier to use out of the box. One of the ideas being bounced around is a RoR like installer. For those of you looking to use ZF for the first time and would like a quick and easy way to get a working install setup try this on for size.. Run the following file in your WWW root to get a working HELLO WORLD example up and running right away.

http://zend.cyberlot.net/zf_dirty_installer.phps (requires svn)

Now this was thrown together during a session and in no way a representation of the direction of the final product but instead something to garner ideas from and to get input on the overall idea of a CLI for ZF

I would like to say hello to all the great people I met the Yahoo party was a blast and I hope my Garth Brooks renditions where not overly horrible, I did however make up for it by buying a bunch of the community leaders a round of Don Julio Tequila afterwards at the bar, My C++ may be rusty but I do know a good shot when I taste it so hats off to you all.
