uTorrent, udp and throttling
Submitted by cyberlot on Mon, 12/01/2008 - 10:38The people behind uTorrent have decide to make the application udp enabled for the reason of bypassing various throttling methods used by ISP's.
http://forum.utorrent.com/viewtopic.php?id=49813
In a period where more and more ISP's are testing and looking into caps, usage charges and other means to limit people who "overuse" there connection they choose the low road and give companies more reason to act.
Speeding doesn't kill, stupid people do!
Submitted by cyberlot on Fri, 11/07/2008 - 10:21car 1 going 60, car 2 going 100, If someone pulls out in front of these drives car 2 has less time to respond and therefore is driving to fast and should get a ticket and be responsible for any accident.
What never seems to get brought up in these cases is car 3.. The car that pulled out in front of the other 2 in the first place and caused them to have to hit the brakes!
Why do cops sit on the side of the road with a speed detector when instead they should be focusing on the cause of accidents and traffic congestion, the "idiot drive".

Dropbox invites here!
Submitted by cyberlot on Thu, 07/10/2008 - 09:27I have been looking for a decent shared folder system for a while, I even paid for a .mac subscription just for the idrive and for personal stuff it works great but for sharing it pretty much sucks and basically just uses a webdav system which can be slow and problematic.
What was I looking for in such a system?
1. The ability to sync folders across multiple systems
2. The ability to access these folders on and OFFLINE ( I will go into why that is so important later)
3. The ability to share folders with multiple people
Health burger with flavor and a kick
Submitted by cyberlot on Fri, 07/04/2008 - 17:38So if you haven't figured it out yet a good burger needs a certain amount of fat otherwise it tends to not stick together, be drive and just not turn out right. A lot of people suggest at least 15-20% fat for a good burger.
If your going to have fat in your burger why not make sure the fat your using provides and extra kick of flavor.
2 pounds extremely lean ground beef ( 3-5% )
1 pound jimmy dean hot sausage
2 teaspoon McCormick's salt free steak seasoning
4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
Working at Mashery
Submitted by cyberlot on Sun, 06/08/2008 - 08:01Started work at Mashery last week and although I have only been there a couple days but I have to say its the most exciting company I have worked with in a long time.
No spending weeks getting familiar with things, there system is built on top of the solar framework which I have played around with so I was able to jump right into the middle of it and get some things done my first few days there which really feels great.
I hope that I can continue this trend and help them push bug fixes and features out the door on a consistent basis.

PHPJack is Born
Submitted by cyberlot on Sun, 04/27/2008 - 00:14As I mentioned in the prior post I am pretty much a "Jack of all Trades" when it comes to website development. I have done it all from the ground up, hardware, os, apache/mail/mysql, and finally php programming so when I decided to give consulting full time another shot (last time I got hired on full time and dropped the consulting) the name "PHPJack" seemed extremely fitting.
Moving to Seattle
Submitted by cyberlot on Sun, 03/16/2008 - 21:23I have left my position at BrokerBin.com part of this change involves moving back to Seattle to be closer to family and friends out there.
The other part of this change is taking some time off from the "7am-5pm if I am lucky" daily grind of being a System Admin/Programmer/Office Support/Handling any and all technical related tasks to spend the next year with my family and watching my 2 year old grow up.
