As I mentioned in the prior post I am pretty much a "Jack of all Trades" when it comes to website development. I have done it all from the ground up, hardware, os, apache/mail/mysql, and finally php programming so when I decided to give consulting full time another shot (last time I got hired on full time and dropped the consulting) the name "PHPJack" seemed extremely fitting.
What do these 3, 3 letter words mean?
One big mess in the PHP community!!
The problem is the people against the CLA are thinking with emotion and not rational thought. The main argument? CLA's are worthless and hold no legal ground....
You know what I say to that? WHO CARES!!! If a stupid signed piece of paper gets the developers from major databases providing more direct assistance, support and debugging for PHP database drivers then it doesn't matter if the piece of paper is legal or not.
The following are from Wikipedia
"A framework is a basic conceptual structure used to solve a complex issue."
"A software framework is a re-usable design for a software system (or subsystem). A software framework may include support programs, code libraries, a scripting language, or other software to help develop and glue together the different components of a software project. Various parts of the framework may be exposed through an API."
After reading http://www.tonybibbs.com/ it maybe me think about some of the technologies I have dealt with and its been a lot. Being the only tech person at the company I am at for a while made me the defacto programmer/system admin/tech support/if it is electronic its my job go to guy!
This has lead to some pretty interesting projects with technologies I knew nothing about at the time. Pulling phone stats from our Altigen phone system, Putting together a calendar using data from our Timeforce time clock, Integrating our admin area with Microsoft SBS and LDAP.
Verizon just got beat down by the NY State Attorney General for advertising there wireless service as "unlimited" when in fact caps exists and people where terminated for heavy usage.
Thats great! I hate false advertising however if you browse forums like http://www.dslreports.com you will find the bottom of the barrel claiming caps in general are evil, or that use of there line to download illegal music 24/7 is ok no matter what the ISP terms of service says.
Ok so your at ZendCon and lets face it a majority of the people that go can either afford it because they have decent jobs or they have a cool job that pays for them to go.
Whats the point? It means that maybe ZendCon is not the best place in the world to try and hire unless you have something real to offer.

It seems like every week a couple more people post about PHP security, or any other language for that matter.
PHP is insecure!
Web 2.0 is insecure!
XYZ is insecure!
Why all the problems, sure PHP has its issues just like any other language. Whats the common factor in most cases? Thats pretty simple, Know thy data! Is it safe? Who did it come from?.. Wait a minute, "Who did it come from?" it came from the person on viewing the website.
Fact is theres no way to be sure, browsers support validation of websites but websites can't validate the person!
In stores on a daily basis employees go after unsuspecting customers with a tactic called "Upselling". They get the customer to buy other equipment they may or may not need with the purchase of a larger item.
Why does this work? Because when your spending $2500 on a 50" LCD TV, spending another $100 for over the top cables and a over price surge protector doesn't phase you.
This same thing is happening on capital hill every day.
