The upselling of America

In stores on a daily basis employees go after unsuspecting customers with a tactic called "Upselling". They get the customer to buy other equipment they may or may not need with the purchase of a larger item.

Why does this work? Because when your spending $2500 on a 50" LCD TV, spending another $100 for over the top cables and a over price surge protector doesn't phase you.

This same thing is happening on capital hill every day.

Your already voting on a $100 BILLION funding request for Afghanistan and Iraq, and $20 BILLION of that are "upsells". To make matters even worse, unlike the typical upsell on your LCD TV these items are not even related at all, We got money going to beet growers, dairy farmers, convention security and other totally unrelated issues.

1/5 of the $100 BILLION funding request is going to unrelated activities, all tacked on because they know people are not going to risk the funding request over a couple minor "upsells"

No wonder wonder our country is bleeding money.
